COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course offers an introductory exploration of the philosophical foundations of Ethics and ethical currents, encompassing various aspects of the subject. It covers fundamental ethical terminology and examines concepts like ethics, morals, values, deontology, virtue ethics. Furthermore, the course delves into contemporary ethical issues commonly encountered in academic settings and research contexts. These may include topics such as professional ethics, rules of ethical behavior, academic integrity, research ethics, and the moral dimensions of decision-making within these domains. Through this course, students are encouraged to not only enhance their understanding of ethical considerations but also to develop the necessary ethical framework for responsible conduct in the academic and research fields. The course challenges students to engage with these issues at a more profound intellectual level, fostering analytical depth and creativity through questioning and discussions. 

Target Audience (public cible): This course is designed for Master's students in their first year (Master 1) studying English Linguistics.

This module is intended for MA1(1st year Master) students of English as a foreign language at Medea University. It introduces the students to the foundational concepts that shape their understanding of language structure, meaning and use. It is Designed to bridge theory and classroom practice. According to the directives of the canva content pertinent to the relevant module, the syllabus is designed around three four main units:  formalism, structuralism, functionalism and cognitivism frameworks. 

Philosophy of Education aims to allow students to explore different philosophical ideas of major thinkers and movements influencing the development of education throughout history. Not limited to the Western tradition of education, this course covers various non-Western philosophical traditions, reflecting on important aspects of different schools of thought influencing education.
