This handout focuses on a presentation of the embedded systems in telecommunications so as to have as much information as possible. Actually, embedded computer systems surround us: smartphones, PC (personal computer) tablets, hardware embedded in cars, TVs, and even refrigerators or heating systems. In fact, embedded systems are one of the most rapidly growing segments of the computer industry today. This manuscript offers the fundamentals of how these embedded systems can benefit anyone who has to build, evaluate, and apply these systems.
This subject aims at basic knowledge in a field which brings together two autonomous systems: an electronic and computer system called an embedded system. It will also allow students to know the different stages of designing an embedded system.
In addition, this course aims to quickly present the widest possible range of basic knowledge of embedded systems in Telecommunication. It is intended for first year Master 1 students in the LMD Sciences and Technology system, option Telecommunication. Its objective is to provide them a working document, their allowing to learn the basic foundations and utilization of the embedded systems in several domains especially in telecommunication. They must also know the internal architecture in details, characteristics, operating modes as well as their applications.
The presentation of this course material respects the chronological order in which the material is treated. This manual is divided into several chapters, of which the student can have the basic information about:
➢ Chapter 1 introduce the embedded system.
➢ Chapter 2 consists of the study of embedded systems in real time.
➢ Chapter 3 focuses on general architecture of embedded processors.
➢ Chapter 4 presents the embedded system design methodology.
➢ Chapter 5 deals the embedded systems security.
It was therefore proposed, in this course handout, to make a contribution to the study of embedded systems in telecommunications. I hope that this work will be profitable and will serve as a reference for anyone interested in the study of embedded systems in telecommunications.
